H.E. Mr. Wu Ken, Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Netherlands paid a visit to Mr. Jaap Smit, King's Commissioner in the Province of Zuid-Holland on 19th September, 2016.
Ambassador Wu said that President Xi Jinping and King Willem-Alexander had paid each other a successful state visit and the Sino-Dutch bilateral relations had developed to a brand-new high level in recent years. Local cooperation between China and the Netherlands is also close and efficient. There are more than 30 pairs of sister provinces and cities from both countries. The friendly cooperation between Zuid-Holland and Hebei Province has already achieved fruitful results, as well as between Zuid-Holland and Shanghai Pudong New Area. Ambassador Wu wished Mr. Smit a successful visit to China in the coming days.
Ambassador Wu and Mr. Smit also discussed about issues of common concerns, such as sustainable development, urbanization, water management, environmental protection, and etc. They agreed that Sino-Dutch cooperation still had great potential in the above-mentioned fields. Ambassador Wu said that the Province of Zuid-Holland should further develop the bilateral cooperation and increase investment, while the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands continually playing the role of a bridge, attracting more Chinese enterprises to invest in Zuid-Holland and welcoming more Zuid-Holland entrepreneurs starting there business in China.
Mr. Smit endorsed Ambassador Wu's comments on bilateral relations, expressing his willingness to further promote exchanges and cooperation between Zuid-Holland and China, deepen local friendship and push the bilateral relations into a new stage.
