Q: What’s your comment on the visit of Dutch parliament member to Taiwan this week?
A: There is only one China in the world. The Government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legal government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The Dutch government explicitly recognized the one-China principle in the joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level between the Netherlands and China in 1972. The one-China principle involves China’s core interests and the sentiment of over 1.3 billion Chinese people. It is also the prerequisite and political basis for the Netherlands to maintain and develop friendly and cooperative relations with China. We always opposes any official contact between the Netherlands and Taiwan in whatever form. We urge the Dutch side to abide by the one-China principle and deal with Taiwan-related issues properly.
