Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Talks with His French Counterpart Fabius

On April 12, 2013, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his visiting French counterpart Laurent Fabius.

Being strategic, epochal and innovative, Sino-French relations have set their own banners over time, Wang said, noting that China attaches great importance to bilateral ties and is committed to promoting the long-term healthy and stable development of Sino-French relations.

With broad common interests between both sides, relationship with China is a priority of France's foreign relations, Fabius stressed. The French side is willing to make joint efforts with China to inject new momentum to the bilateral strategic partnership.

The two ministers agreed to take the opportunity of French president Francois Hollande's upcoming visit to China to consolidate bilateral political ties and strategic trust, improve tangible cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, aviation, aerospace, nuclear energy, urbanization, environmental protection, education, culture and so on. They also pledged to promote the development of China-EU relations, strengthen coordination in the United Nations, the G20 and other multilateral mechanisms and raise the new-type Sino-French comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.

The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern.
