2011/12/24

On 21st December, Ambassador Zhang Jun paid a visit to the Province of Utrecht, one of the economic hubs of the Netherlands, at the invitation of Mr. Robertson, Governor of the Province. During the visit, Ambassador Zhang held talks with Governor Robertson, President of the University of Utrecht, as well as the management of Grontmij, a world-renowned architecture consulting firm. Ambassador Zhang also visited Ninestar Image B.V., the Dutch branch of a Chinese enterprise. Both sides have had a comprehensive and thorough discussion as to further enhance cooperation between China and the Netherlands in the fields of commerce and trade, education, culture, as well as science and technology.

Governor Robertson recalled his fruitful visit to Guangdong Province last November, which, as his every visit to China, enabled him to witness new development of China. The Governor also related that the Province of Utrecht gained both inspirations from the development of China and real benefits from the bilateral cooperation, and reaffirmed his intention to continue to promote the bilateral cooperation in all sectors. The President of the Utrecht University and the management of Grontmij briefed Ambassador Zhang about cooperation with their Chinese counterparts and expressed their confidence about the bright future of such collaboration.

Ambassador Zhang stressed that the development of China has ushered in a new phase thanks to the implementation of the 12th Five-Year-Plan. The priority will be focused on improving development quality, low carbon consumption, green technology, and sustainable development as well as addressing imbalanced development. The Netherlands has sustained China’s second biggest trading partner in the European Union for the 9th consecutive year, however, there is much space to expand further the bilateral cooperation in such fields as renewable energy in which the Netherlands is a world leader, and the development of China will create new opportunities for the Netherlands. While making further efforts to strengthen their cooperation in commerce & trade, cultural exchange, education, science and technology, the two countries should also tap the potential and make full use of the complimentary nature of the two economies, promote exchange and mutual trust that will enrich and drive bilateral cooperation.

The Province of Utrecht is widely believed to be the region with great competitiveness in the European Union and significant potential in sustainable development in the Netherlands.

Being a major global supplier in printer expendables, Ninestar Image B.V. set up its logistics and marketing branch in the Netherlands in 2004, and has since registered significant achievements in its 7 years of operation.
