  Q: It is reported that both the Germany and the Netherlands governments said they would not sell submarines to Taiwan or assist the US in manufacturing submarines for Taiwan. What is the comment of the Chinese side about this?

  A: The Germany and the Netherlands governments have openly expressed their stance that they will not sell weapons to Taiwan, nor will they approve any application for making submarines for Taiwan. China highly appreciates this position. Currently the political and economic relationship featuring mutual benefit and cooperation between China and Germany and that between China and the Netherlands have witnessed smooth development and have broad prospects. The clear stance by the two countries on  will undoubtedly lay a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral ties.
