Wang Yi Meets with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Burns

On April 25, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns in Beijing. Deputy Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui also held talks with Burns.

The Chinese side noted that the current Sino-U.S. relations remain stable in general and bilateral cooperation has achieved new development in various fields. The two sides should earnestly implement the important consensus between the heads of state of the two countries, enhance mutual trust, deepen cooperation and properly handle and manage differences, so as to push the Sino-U.S. relationship to develop on the positive and correct track.

The U.S. side said that U.S.-China relations are facing important opportunities for development. The United States is willing to work with China to maintain strategic communication, strengthen pragmatic cooperation, properly deal with contradictions and differences and explore ways to build a new type of major-country relations between the United States and China.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
