Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mayko

On April 26, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Viktor Mayko.

Wang first thanked the Ukrainian side for sending condolences to China over the earthquake in Lushan, Sichuan. He pointed out that since the establishment of strategic partnership in 2011, bilateral relations have entered a new period of rapid development, with increasing political trust, positive outcome scored in pragmatic cooperation in various fields and increasingly active cultural exchanges. Both sides have also kept closer communication and coordination in international and regional affairs. China is willing to work with Ukraine to push forward bilateral ties.

Mayko said that the Ukrainian leadership attaches great importance to developing relations with China and takes it as a top priority of the diplomatic layout. The Ukrainian side is willing to strengthen high-level political dialogue between the two countries, enhance the scale and level of pragmatic cooperation and deepen the traditional friendship, so as to continuously enrich the Ukraine-China strategic partnership.
